If you’re dealing with IR lamps that keep popping on your Blomax lines, you know how frustrating it is. It’s never just one lamp. It’s a cycle. Most people think it’s just bad luck, but it’s usually simpler than that. The machine vibrates, the lamp shakes, and eventually, the glass just can’t take it anymore. It’s a clash between the machine’s energy and the lamp’s fragility. That’s exactly why we built a reinforced IR module. We wanted to put an end to that “replace, crash, repeat” loop. Getting the heat right We use shortwave quartz lamps because PET blowing needs to be fast. To get that preform to the right temperature before the blow, you need serious wattage. But here’s the catch: high heat puts a massive strain on the filament. If you get “hot spots,” the tube ruptures. We spent a lot of time balancing the voltage and wattage so you get the heat you need without cooking the lamp itself. Built to actually last Most replacement lamps are too delicate for the Blomax footprint. They just aren’t tough enough. Our version uses reinforced quartz glass and beefed-up end-cap seals to keep gases where they belong. The best part? They’re drop-in replacements. You won’t be spending your weekend rewiring cabinets or hacking away at the chassis. Everything just fits. Because the connection points are stronger, the lamp can handle the machine’s constant shaking without cracking at the seals. A few things to keep in mind Since we used stronger glass and different coatings, the heat emission is a little different. You might need to nudge your power settings up or down by 2-5% to get back to your sweet spot. And a quick tip: keep your cooling fans clean. If the housing overheats, it doesn’t matter how strong the glass is—the heat will eventually win. Just plug them in, tweak your heat zones, and you’ll finally stop worrying about when the next tube is going to blow.
