
Stop Waiting on Your Oven to Catch Up
If you’ve ever run a high-volume kitchen, you know the frustration of the “thermal lag.” It’s that annoying gap where you’re standing around waiting for the oven to actually hit the temperature it says it’s at. It slows everything down. That’s why we use twin-quartz infrared tubes. Most ovens try to heat the air first, which then heats your food. It’s slow. Our setup is different. These quartz tubes send short-wave radiation straight into the product. No middleman. No waiting for the air to warm up. It’s basically instant. The second you flip the switch, the filament hits peak heat. You aren’t wasting electricity heating up the oven walls or the air around the tray; you’re putting that energy exactly where it belongs—into the food. The Gear Inside
We use high-purity fused quartz for these tubes. Why? Because they can handle the shock. You can cycle the power on and off rapidly and the glass won’t crack. Plus, by using a twin-tube design, we can cram double the heat into the same amount of space. But a word of caution: this heat is fast. Too fast for a cheap thermostat. If you use basic gear, the temperature will overshoot and you’ll end up scorching your product. You’ll want a precise PID controller and a fast-acting SSR (Solid State Relay) to keep things steady. It’s the only way to keep the heat under control.
A Few Things to Watch Out For
If you’re putting these into a steam oven, you have to be obsessive about your seals. Water and electricity don’t mix. If a little moisture leaks into the sockets, you’ll get an arc-over and fry your lamp. Keep it bone-dry. And remember, these things runhot. Because the heat density is so intense, you can’t just throw them into any old box. Make sure your ventilation is solid and your housing materials can take the hit, otherwise, you might see your oven chassis start to warp. Also, keep an eye on your cooling fans. If they can’t keep up, your quartz tubes won’t last nearly as long as they should.
