Getting rid of the damp
Here is the thing about regular space heaters: they warm the air, but your walls stay cold. That’s how you end up with that annoying condensation dripping down the tiles. Infrared is different. It sends out energy that actually sinks into your grout and tiles. It gets those trapped water molecules vibrating until they turn into vapor and leave the surface. When you get the right wave length, the heat doesn’t just float around the room. It pushes the moisture out of the walls. That’s the secret to stopping mold from moving into your silicone seals and grout lines in the first place.
Finding the sweet spot
It’s a bit of a balancing act. If the lamp is too weak, it won’t actually move the needle on humidity. You’ll feel a bit of warmth, but the walls stay damp. But if you go overboard with the wattage without enough airflow, you’ll just burn through your bulbs way too fast. We spend a lot of time making sure the heat is intense enough to dry things out without scorching your fixtures.
Don’t forget the fan
Now, here is the catch. An infrared lamp can’t do everything on its own. The lamp is great at kicking the water out of your walls, but that moisture is still in the room. It’s just floating in the air now. If you don’t have a way to get it out, that vapor is just going to drift up and settle on your ceiling. The best way to handle this? Pair the lamp with a strong exhaust fan. The infrared dries the surfaces, and the fan pulls all that humid air outside. That’s how you actually keep a bathroom dry. No mold, no damp smell.
